How Trinity Boston Connects (TBC) Is Making a Difference

TBC seeks to heal the traumatic impact of systemic racism that undermines the academic performance of students of color. TBC serves approximately 1,000 middle and high school students annually who come from historically under-resourced Boston neighborhoods. Programs seek to promote stable, safe relationships with both adults and peers, putting in place policies and practices that help students regain a sense of control over their lives and ultimately be the change agents for a more collaborative future.

Work of TBC

  • Organizes Sole Train, a community-building and mentoring program that uses running as a vehicle for middle school students to set and achieve goals. Programs are hosted at schools and community centers across Boston, with weekly practices that bring students together during the school year.
  • Runs TEEP, a three-to-six-year tuition-free program that complements the traditional school day with academic enrichment, career exploration, and leadership development support. Program alumni serve as counselors and supervisors to further reinforce a sense of community.
  • Hosts a Trinity at Ruth Batson Academy that works with the school to instill a healing and inclusive educational environment.

Initiatives Supported by Project Redwood

2026: $27,000 to expand the TEEP Career Forward Initiative (a six-year academic enrichment and leadership pathway). The added programming will provide more workforce readiness preparation for 16 high school students through structured, small group job shadowing experiences.
