How Global Batwa Outreach Made a Difference
Global Batwa Outreach worked to restore dignity, health and economic sustainability for the Batwa people, an indigenous Pygmy community in Uganda pushed off their ancestral lands, and who are now among the poorest in the region.
The Work of Global Batwa Outreach
- Built a primary school and supported early education access for Batwa children.
- Established a health center and provided maternal care services to the Batwa community.
- Created income-generating opportunities (agriculture, craft cooperatives) so Batwa families could earn sustainable livelihoods.
- Strengthened community governance by training Batwa leaders and embedding local leadership in program design.
- Provided water, sanitation and infrastructure improvements in Batwa settlements to improve basic living conditions.
- No longer active.
Initiatives Supported by Project Redwood
