How Wellbody Alliance, Now Part of Partners In Health, Made a Difference
For nearly a decade, Wellbody Alliance provided healthcare and medical services to the poorest in the Kono District of Sierra Leone. Now, as part of Partners In Health, they work with the Ministry of Health to invest in and transform health outcomes in Sierra Leone’s public health system.
Work of Wellbody Alliance, Now Part of Partners in Health
- Initially operated a mobile clinic that provided health care for amputees.
- In 2008, established a primary-care clinic focused on prenatal, pediatric, surgical, and emergency care as well as management of chronic conditions.
- Expanded efforts to address root causes of poverty and health problems by creating palm oil-related enterprises.
- Merged with Partners in Health.
Initiatives Supported by Project Redwood
2010: $25,000 to support the construction of a palm-oil processing plant in Sierra Leone.
