Daniel T. Dougherty, President of Cristo Rey New York High School (CRNYHS), will join CRNYHS sponsor Rick Agresta, MBA ’80, for a conversation on how Cristo Rey New York High School empowers students with limited economic resources through a rigorous, career-focused, college-preparatory education. The conversation will highlight the school’s holistic approach—combining high-level academics with real-world work experience—to empower students to thrive long after graduation.

Rick Agresta

Rick Agresta was born in Jersey City, N.J., and grew up in Union City, N.J. He graduated from St. Peter’s Prep (Jersey City) in 1970. Rick received an A.B. from Columbia University in 1974 and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) in 1980. He started his career in 1974 with JCPenney in New York City. Later, he held marketing and sales management positions at several companies, including Corning and CBS, before becoming president at Terraillon, Inc. in 1992. He joined iSi North America, Inc. in 2002, serving as president and CEO until his retirement in 2017.
Rick and his wife, Joan, have lived in Darien, CT, since 1987. They have three children and seven grandchildren. He is a founding Partner and past Co-Chair of Project Redwood. His leisure activities include golf, theater, travel, philanthropy, reading, and all those grandchildren.
Daniel T. Dougherty
Cristo Rey New York High School
President (2018-present)
Prior to becoming President at Cristo Rey New York High School, Dan served as Executive Vice President at Xavier High School in New York City, where he was responsible for strategic initiatives, school governance, and institutional advancement. Previously, he served as Assistant to Secondary and Pre-Secondary Education at the New York Province of the Society of Jesus in New York. Mr. Dougherty also served in various leadership, teaching, and coaching roles at Regis High School in New York, including Dean of Students.
Mr. Dougherty earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Harvard University, a master’s in educational administration at St. John’s University, and professional certificates from New York University and Fordham University’s Father Joseph O’Hare, S.J., Jesuit Teacher Leadership Program.
