How Looma Education Is Making a Difference
Looma Education develops affordable hardware and software systems to bring modern, engaging education to children across Nepal, even in schools without power or internet.
Work of Looma Education
- Develops and enhances the “Looma Box”, “Looma Server” and “Looma Online” systems, pre-loaded with national textbooks, Khan Academy courses, videos, games and interactive learning tools tailored for Nepal.
- Provides installation, maintenance and teacher training so that rural and underserved schools can adopt modern teaching methods.
- Partners with Nepal’s national and local governments, and non-government organizations, to scale reach in remote and resource-constrained contexts.
- Shifts classrooms from rote memorization toward active-learning, technology-enabled methods through their platforms.
- Monitors and evaluates outcomes with student pre- and post-testing in remote schools to gauge learning and engagement.
Initiatives Supported by Project Redwood
2024: $40,000 to train teachers in best practices, active-learning techniques, and technology integration.
