How Multicolores Is Making a Difference
Multicolores supports indigenous Maya women artists living in the Guatemalan highlands. Recognizing that these women tend to have few sources of income beyond subsistence farming, Multicolores offers innovative opportunities to develop their artistic vision and achieve greater economic empowerment and personal well-being.
Work of Multicolores
- Provides artistic training and education in the design and cost-effective production of one-of-a-kind hooked rugs and accessories, embroidered textile art and decor.
- Complements those design skills with leadership development and business skills.
- Creates access to new markets where participating artisans can sell their merchandise.
- Offers mental health programs.
Initiatives Supported by Project Redwood
2026: $30,000 to fund the development of a more diversified sales base for the artisanal products made by the Maya women. Funds will cover the salary of a Marketing Director, travel, and useful materials to expand sales channels both domestically and abroad.
