How Supporting Opportunities for Ugandans to Learn (S.O.U.L.) Foundation Is Making a Difference

S.O.U.L. Foundation provides early-childhood education and education mentors for older children.  They also support sustainable, community-led solutions that focus on strengthening digital literacy, vocational training and maternal health in rural Ugandan communities.

Work of S.O.U.L. Foundation

  • Operates two early-childhood education centers that use established, effective teaching methods and incorporate extracurricular activities.
  • Sponsors and mentors primary- through post-secondary-aged students and also provides vocational education in hairdressing, cooking, auto repair, fashion design, computer/IT skills and electrical work.
  • Provides digital literacy classes and workshops in conjunction with local partners.
  • Supports maternal health with prenatal classes, birthing kits and follow-up visits.

Initiatives Supported by Project Redwood

2018:  $25,000 to provide financial support and training to cooperatives working in aquaculture and maize mill production.

2021:  $30,000 to fund personnel, supplies and support for vocational training for at-risk youth.

2022/2023:  $30,000 to expand vocational training programs and provide mentorship and job placement to at-risk youth.

2024:  $40,000 to continue to offer vocational training to at-risk youth.
