Resonate Workships: A first-time grantee in 2024
Resonate’s mission to unlock the leadership potential of women and girls in East Africa. Resonate envisions a world where women and girls are leaders in creating the change they want to see in their lives and communities. By partnering with organizations that provide vocational and other hard skills or education to women and girls, and integrating its leadership-building workshops into those existing programs, Resonate’s workshops ensure that women and girls have self-confidence as well as access to skills and resources that will allow them to realize their full potential and turn opportunity into action.

GRANT SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
2024: Resonate partnered with the National Women’s Council (NWC) in Rusizi District, an area of women street vendors and cross-border traders who needed economic and social protection. NWC supported these women to enter into the formal workforce, and Resonate built their confidence and leadership capacity to make this change through its 12-month Gerakure (“Venture Beyond”) training. The project was a huge success.
This new project will expand the partnership and support women street vendors and cross-border traders in Bugasera District. Resonate will implement its core program of leadership, goal-setting and financial literacy which have been shown to equip participants with the skills to increase their agency and resilience. Resonate will help them learn to use existing resources and opportunities to start formal businesses and generate more income. Participants will amplify their ability to participate in income-generating activities, to increase their earning potential and to rise out of poverty.
GOAL
Resonate’s project stands as a testament to innovation, redefining the landscape of women’s empowerment by addressing both tangible and intangible aspects of personal and professional growth. These approaches position Resonate to be a trailblazer in the field, showcasing the potential for broader impact and effectiveness in empowering women in challenging contexts.
